Vendstar 3000 - Know the Problems with Vendstars Before You Buy
NEGATIVES:
1. Plastic Machines - this is the biggest drawbacks of the Vendstar 3000 machines. The plastic bases, cannisters and internal mechanisms do not hold up well. I have retired several Venstar just to use for parts.
2. Poor coin mechanisms - Some of the mechanisms on my Vendstars will turn whether you place nickels or quarters in them. Whether this has been corrected in later models, I don't know, but this is certainly a problem with some models. The mechnisms are also prone to breaking with heavy use.
3. Inconsistent vends - One complaint I have had is vending inconsistent amounts per vend. One time a person may get 3 candies and the next time 20 pieces. This can be caused from improper alignment of the candy wheel inside the machine; however I have had this problem when alignment was not the issue.
4. Fading of Machines - Vendstars tend to fade over time. The plastic will get lighter which makes the machines look old to me.
5. Vendstar Scam - Some people have associated the Vendstar 3000 with vending scams. I am making no comment on this particular subject other than to say DO NOT PAY $300 per Vendstar if you buy one! The 2nd comment I would say is DO YOUR HOMEWORK when it comes to purchasing any vending machine, including a Venstar 3000.
POSITIVES:
1. Three Product Choices - this is a big plus for the machine as compared to a single gumball machine. You have a greater chance at capuring people's favorite candy by offering more choices.
2. Easy to Buy Used Vendstars - This is another big plus. Many people have paid $300+ for a single machine and found out they cannot make the returns promised. Then, they decide it's not worth the time to get their money back and put the machines up for sale. I believe you can use these machines on a vending route if you buy them for the right price preferably already placed in operation in area businesses.
If you are going to consider Vendstars, remember to figure in extra money for parts and extra time to repair the machines. You may also get more complaints from the machines not operating as efficiently as others. Keep this in mind if you come across a good deal for Vendstars. Good Luck!
